8th Dec 2004: Carols By Torchlight
Following a successful event last year, Carols By Torchlight will be held again this year on Sunday 19th December 2004 in the ampitheatre area of Sir James McCusker Park commencing at 7:30pm so bring a picnic basket and lots of seasonal goodwill, and don't forget your Torch.
The event is being arranged by Pastor Craig Lydon of the Beaumaris Baptist Church in conjunction with the Carramar and Quinns Baptist Churches.
Parking around the park is limited so we would encourage local residents to walk to the event. If you must drive, please consider the residents surrounding the park and do not park on the verges.

22nd Nov 2004: Mini Motorbikes concern
I have become aware of persons riding small mini motorbikes or peewee motorbikes around the park in Iluka, which is not only a great danger to pedestrians but they also risk endangering themselves. The bikes are being sold at an alarming rate, and they are good fun in the right environment, but they are not road legal and should only be used on either private property or on a race track which is where they were designed to be used.
With Christmas soon upon us, parents should be aware of the potential implications if they buy these bikes for their children, and I would urge you to contact the local police or ranger services to confirm their legality
Simon Jones.

Update: 28th Nov 2004
The Committee would like to draw the attention of all residents to the response received from the Senior Ranger of the Joondalup City Council to this matter who states that "The City has a local law that prohibits the riding of vehicles of any class on the City's Reserves. The modified penalty for this offence is $50.00". Furthermore the Senior Ranger has indicated that patrols of the Sir James McCusker park, and others, will be conducted to ensure that such vehicles are not being ridden. The Committee would like to urge all residents who may own mini motorcycles, and parents in particular, to ensure that these vehicles are used appropriately in a suitable and safe environment.

12th Oct 2004: Interested in some recreational walking/running?
I am a recreational runner, but hate running by myself. Are you also in this situation? Then lets get together.
I am interested in getting a group of enthusiastic recreational walkers/runners, of all levels, together to enjoy some fitness and interaction in the local community. This includes walkers who enjoy the 10 minute walk 3 days a week to the serious runners training for triathlons/marathons.
If you are interested in being involved in this sort of activity, drop me a line. If there is sufficient interest I will I will inform everyone and we can start some activities.
If you know of any regular walkers/runners in the area encourage them to contact me.

5th Oct 2004: Book Club
I would like to try to gauge interest in the possibility of commencing a book club for anyone in this area.
I thought there may be a few bookworms, or casual readers who may like to get something additional out of their reading, meeting other like minded people etc on a casual basis. Nothing highbrow - just for pleasure, exchange of viewpoints etc.
