6th October 2005: Temporary diversion for the upgrade of Burns Beach Rd.
Residents may be aware of development works in Iluka west of the intersection of Burns Beach
Road and Delgado Parade.
The developers are required by Council to upgrade Burns Beach Road to incorporate a dual
carriageway, cycle
lanes and a median strip along with installation of various services.
The upgrade will involve extensive earthworks which means that only one carriageway can be
worked on at a time.
It is proposed to close Burns Beach Road between Delgado Parade and a point west of the
current development. Traffic will be diverted down Delgado Parade and Venice Entrance and
along a temporary roadway to rejoin Burns Beach Road. This diversion will be in place during
October for a maximum period of 28 days.
This diversion is required to remove pedestrian and vehicle traffic away from the work
area, making it safer for both workers and the public.
